EMERYVILLE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/07/17 -- National MI, a subsidiary of NMI Holdings, Inc.(NASDAQ: NMIH) a California-based private mortgage insurer, announces that Mary Lee Sharp, senior vice president and chief human resources officer, has been named to MReport's Women of Impact List, which features influential female leaders in the housing and mortgage industries. Recipients of this year's awards were selected from hundreds of nominees, according to the magazine.

"Since Mary Lee joined National MI in 2014, she has played a critical role in the successful growth of our company," said Brad Shuster, CEO of National MI. "Mary Lee created the HR department for National MI, spearheaded hiring and developed all of our HR programs. She has been instrumental in creating our strong corporate culture and building National MI's employment brand."

From the time when National MI opened its doors in 2013 through June 30, 2017, the company has grown its workforce substantially, from 50 to approximately 300 employees. Nearly 60 percent of employees are female.

With Mary Lee heading HR, National MI has received many "great company to work for" awards, including from Fortune Magazine, Great Place to Work and the San Francisco Business Times and Silicon Valley Business Journal. A seasoned executive, Sharp draws on 25 years of experience in financial services, business operations and the hospitality industry. In her current role as CHRO, Sharp oversees all recruiting efforts and designs all HR programs and policies, which include awards programs that recognize and reward employees. She also launched National MI's community-facing philanthropy program "Give Where You Live."
